I honestly haven’t done much knitting the past 6 months. Between moving and starting a new jobs (twice >_>), there hasn’t been a ton of time.
I did, however, recently finish a hat for my step-father that turned out looking pretty good:
The only other knitting thing going on as of late is starting a new new scarf for my mother since her old one was lost. Also have plans to start projects for my sister and future brother-in-law so hopefully I can get these all wrapped up before the holidays.
Hope everyone out there in the world is doing well!
Hi there! I’m still around. I know I’m a bad blogger the past year and a half, but I’ve taken a bit of a break from knitting and crocheting. I didn’t totally stop, but I took a break for a while. It was worth it, though, because I finished first novel which is quite exciting!
This year I plan on getting back into knitting a bit more again. Crochet is enjoyable, but I don’t enjoy it as much as knitting, regardless of the speed or outcome.
Here are some projects I’m working on or have finished.
Another mushroom blanket. It’s a bit further along than this photo, but still has some work to go.
Easy baby blanket in garden walk for a friend’s baby that came along in November 🙂
Ear warmer I made for my sister.
Hi friends! I am indeed still alive and still working on projects here and there.
Knitting and crocheting have taken a bit of back seat for the past year. I’ve spent most of the past year and a half working on my first novel. It’s all written (yay!) and now I’m working on editing it. My goal is to have it ready to self-publish by the end of the year so I’ve been very excited about that.
Now, that doesn’t mean I’ve stopped knitting and crocheting entirely. In the past 6 or so months, I’ve crocheted 3 blankets and a dish towel and I’ve knit an infinity scarf for my sister. I’m also working on another mushroom blanket like the one I made my partner a few years ago and my sister has asked me to knit her some yoga socks so I still have a few projects on my plate.
A picture of me wearing the infinity scarf. I love the color of it!
Granny square blanket
Foxy baby afghan dark. I frickin LOVE how the colors turned out in this one! I’m very much considering trying this color combo (but swapping the black for a charcoal gray) on a scarf.
Foxy baby afghan bright – the second baby afghan.
Foxy baby afghans – they were crocheted at the same time for a friend who is expecting twins in September. They have been designing the nursery for the babies with foxes and that has given some awesome color combinations.
I’m really happy with how all of the projects have turned out and I can see that my skills are definitely improving over time. Practice really does make perfect.
At some point I will attempt to take pictures of the mushroom blanket as I’m working on it. But for now, I leave you with a musical number that fits the title of this post:
So I’ve been threatening it for a while and I’ve finally started my own store on Etsy! I figured that I have a few things around from testing out pattern ideas that actually did turn out so I might as well give it a try. I still have to post 2 hats and finish off a scarf to post 🙂
I know this is a short post and it’s been a while since I’ve written, but I will try to write a proper post soon.
If you would like to check out my Etsy store, you can find it here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/OhMisterKnitter
So after a roughly six month hiatus from not doing too much knitting, I have started working on some projects again. It’s been quite nice to relax and knit something.
I did a lot of rush knitting the last 3 months of last year so I needed a bit of a break. The break has given me time to focus on some writing and that has gone amazingly. I’ve always wanted to write a novel and I’m getting close to that dream happening 🙂
Despite not doing too much in the way of knitting so far this year, I’ve actually done a few of my goals:
- Use only yarn from my stash*
- Organized my stash because it was a horrible mess and taking over my office with boxes
- This might not count as a new technique, but working on my first shawl
* I have bought some new yarn BUT it was with a gift certificate that I received as a birthday present back in January.
Well, I know that this is a short post and I don’t have any pictures of what I’m currently working on. However, I did feel that I needed to post something to let you all know that I am still alive and I didn’t abandon my blog, I just took a break for a while.
So I haven’t kept up with blogging much this year. I actually haven’t been knitting too much since the holidays. I overdid it a bit with holiday gifts and needed a bit of a break. Hopefully this weekend I will get a chance to take pictures of what I have been working on.
I don’t really like the idea of creating new years resolutions, but I think it’ll be fun to do some knitting related resolutions. So here are my knitting resolutions for 2013:
- Only use yarn currently in my stash and don’t buy anymore until it’s gone (or I’m doing a very specific project for a gift)
- Organize my yarn stash a lot better so I can find things when I’m looking for them
- Learn how to dye yarn
- Learn at least one new knitting technique
- Learn at least one new crochet technique
- Only knit baby gifts for people I know really well
- Attempt to sell some things I’ve made online that I’m likely not going to use myself or for a gift
I realized when trying to start organizing my stash, that I have managed to acquire quite a bit of yarn. I think my ADHD kicks in a little when I see it and go, “OOO PRETTY COLORS!” As for organizing my stash, I need to figure out exactly how I want to do that. I’m a little hyper organized at times so it’s surprising that I have yet to fully organize it.
I definitely want to learn how to dye yarn at some point so I can just create exactly the colors I’m looking for. I think this one won’t happen until I actually use up most of my stash because I would need to get dye and base yarn for dying.
I’m not sure exactly what knitting and crochet techniques I’d like to learn, I’m just always up for learning something new. Perhaps for knitting I can learn more about binding off and sock knitting. Crochet I’d like to learn better in general. I can easily rock out a granny square, but I haven’t done much else.
So I know that the cutting back on baby gifts seems mean, but they are really time consuming. I’ve also had a few people pretty much say to me that they are expecting one and it really rubbed me the wrong way.
As for the last one, there is no sense in those things sitting around if someone else might like them 🙂
