The secret fiber project revealed!

First things first, to those who celebrate any of the following: Merry Chirstmas, Happy Festivas, Happy Hanukkah, and Happy Yule a little late (and if I missed one, happy that as well)! It’s a busy time of year and I can’t believe in a few short days it will be 2013 and then I’ll be 27 shortly after that.

I know that I’ve been a bad blogger, but it’s for good reason. I had to do a lot of work on my secret project and a gift project. I also updated my Chevron Hat pattern for worsted weight yarn (the original was for bulky).

So my secret project has been in the works for quite a while and it was a project for my partner. Somehow in the several months I worked on it, he never caught me. Here are a few pics of the final product (that still needs to be added to).

Finished main part of the 1-UP blanket

Someone was excited to open a surprise gift

I need to add at least 4 rows to it to make it a bit longer. I think I’ll be adding 8 rows. This blanket was inspired by some Googling and I landed on PaisleyJade’s blog post. One day when I lose my mind, I want to make one that is the poison mushroom for me.

The other project that I was working on was a scarf for a Christmas gift for my aunt. I didn’t want to post any pictures sooner because I wanted it to be a surprise. It’s the Heide Mountain scarf and it turned out really well. The pattern was easy to knit and I would definitely use it again.

Close up to see the pattern

Kind of blurry, but you can still see the pattern

Blah, another blurry one that is half rolled up

It even looks pretty rolled up. If I had a round box to put it in, I totally would’ve wrapped it like this.

And a matching Chevron Hat (loose version):

Chevron Hat (loose version)

This version of the Chevron hat not only has been update for worsted weight yarn, but it also has variations for the brim as well as a loose and cloche version.

Butch is comfortable enough with his masculinity to wear a woman’s hat and model the cloche version of the Chevron Hat…and Shelia’s head is too small anyhow.

So it’s been a post full of photos and you’ve hopefully made it this far.

My knitting plans for 2013 are:

  • Type up some more of my patterns to share
  • Learn some new knitting skills
  • Get ohmisterknitter.com up and running
  • Hopefully start on my K25 project…which at this point I’ll have to rename (I have one in mind)
  • Try to blog at a very minimum once a month, but twice if I can
  • I might try throwing in some more Work In Progress Wednesday and Finished Project Friday posts

Last but certainly not least, have a happy, safe, and healthy new year!
